Gamecocks Maintain Lead Heading into Final Round of ANNIKA Intercollegiate



Lake Elmo, Minn. -- After a strong first round of competition on Monday, South Carolina picked up right where they left off to sit atop the leaderboard Tuesday afternoon with 36 rounds complete. The Gamecocks are 10-under-par (278-288--566) and were led by Mathilde Claisse on the day as she shot a 2-under round, highlighted by four birdies on the back nine.


Wake Forest trails South Carolina by six heading into the final round (286-286--572). Two Deacs in Mimi Rhodes and Rachel Kuehn shot 2-under rounds on Tuesday. Rhodes started with a double bogey on hole one, but bounced back with four birdies. Kuehn was even-par at the turn and paired one bogey with three birdies on the back nine.


Duke sits in third place after two rounds and is just one stroke behind Wake Forest. The Blue Devils were paced by senior Gina Kim who shot a 2-under round.


Julia Johnson of Ole Miss leads the individual competition at 10-under par (67-67--134). She began the day with a bogey on the first hole but followed with two-straight birdies on holes two and three. An additional birdie on No. 9 and three birdies on the back nine gave her a 5-under second round. Calynne Rosholt of Arizona and Hannah Darling of South Carolina are in a tie for second place at 5-under.


Final round tee times will run from 8:00 to 9:35 a.m. CT. at Royal Golf Club on Wednesday morning.
