Gothenberg Native Shares Lead After First Round

Filippa Jansson, 18, from Torslanda Golf Club in Gothenburg shares the first-round lead with Moa Andersson (PGA National Golf Club) after the first day of ANNIKA Invitational Europe at Isaberg Golf Club. Jansson described exceeding her own expectations on Tuesday.

“It was fun, but I did not expect this. Isaberg is a very narrow course and the balls can go anywhere. I was two over after two holes, but it was great to finish well,” says the 18-year-old whose home club is a five iron away from Isaberg Golf Club.

As with tradition, the ANNIKA Foundation hosted a college golf seminar and Annika wrapped up the day with a clinic for the ANNIKA Invitational Europe and ANNIKA Cup participants. The 10-time major champion shared tips and insights from what made her successful, especially in windy conditions that the players experienced during the first round.

The forecast for the remainder of the week calls for warmer temperatures and lighter winds, a welcoming change for the players.

Annika also met with Swedish media, to discuss the impact the ANNIKA Foundation has made on junior golf over the past 14 years. The 2022 edition of the ANNIKA Invitational will be held at Halmstad Golf Club and will celebrate the 10th hosting of the event.
