The fourth edition of the ANNIKA Invitational Latin America concluded Sunday in Montevideo, Uruguay. Hosted outside Argentina for the first time, the event played host to 50 of the top junior girls in Latin America.
Agustina Zeballos of Argentina, polished off a wire-to-wire victory after a final-round of 3-under-par 70, including an eagle and three birdies, for a total of 10-under-par 209. Matching Zeballos’ course record, set on Saturday, Antonia Matte of Chile shot an impressive final round of 6-under-par 67, finishing in solo second with a tournament total of 7-under-par 212. Rounding out the top three at 4-under-par 215 was Vanessa Gilly, who will join Zeballos and Matte at the 2020 ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex.
In partnership with The R&A, Zeballos will also earn an exemption into the 2020 South American Amateur Open, to be held at Sport Francis Golf Club in Santiago, Chile.
As with every ANNIKA event, the girls enjoyed “More Than Golf” activities this week. Following Saturday’s second round, the players were treated to a clinic hosted by Annika and a traditional Uruguayan Candombe show.
Thank you to all our sponsors including the R&A, Rolex, Mastercard, Cutter & Buck and AHEAD for supporting this event, and our partners the Uruguayan Golf Association and this year’s host club, Club de Golf del Uruguay, for having us. It was a great week of camaraderie and competition!
