This week, the best women in golf are set to compete at Royal Troon for the 2020 AIG Women’s British Open. This will mark the 20th playing of the event as a major championship and 45 ANNIKA alumnae and members are represented in the field.

Of the 45 former ANNIKA players, two are amateurs. Australian Gabriela Ruffels is coming off a runner-up finish at the 2020 U.S. Women’s Amateur. Ranked No. 12 in the WAGR, the All-American will be a fourth-year starter for the USC Trojans this fall. She also became the first woman to enter the Jacksonville Amateur Championship last month, finishing 51st. Fellow amateur Olivia Mehaffey is also playing in Scotland this week. The Sun Devil will return for a final year of golf at Arizona State as her senior season got cut short, like many college golfers. This year, she was invited back to Augusta National to play in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. She is also only the third four-time All-American in Arizona State program history.

As for some of our professional alumnae to watch this week, Danielle Kang is enjoying a hot year. In her last three starts, Kang recorded back-to-back wins followed by a T5 finish at the Ladies Scottish Open last week. Kang is currently ranked second in Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

Another is our inaugural ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex champion, Celine Boutier. She’s recorded four top-10 finishes out of seven events played this season and sits in 3rd in the Race to CME Globe Rankings.

2020 LPGA rookie Andrea Lee is also in the field after finishing T5 at the Marathon LPGA Classic presented by Dana to receive the invite this week. The Stanford graduate is coming off an 11th place finish at the Ladies Scottish Open. Other players new to the LPGA Tour who will take on Royal Troon this week are two-time ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel winner Leona Maguire, Haley Moore, Yealimi Noh and 2018 ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M winner, Patty Tavatanakit.

Among other ANNIKA alumnae who will be competing this week in Scotland are Aditi Ashok, Nicole Broch Larsen, Jennifer Chang, Olivia Cowan, Tonje Daffinrud, Gemma Dryburgh, Julia Engstrom, Austin Ernst, Maria Fassi, Kristen Gillman, Esther Henseleit, Alice Hewson, Nuria Iturrioz, Megan Khang, Cheyenne Knight, Nanna Koerstz Madsen, Nelly Korda, Jessica Korda, Stephanie Kyriacou, Bronte Law, Alison Lee, Yu Liu, Gaby Lopez, Stephanie Meadow, Emma Nilsson, Annie Park, Emily Kristine Pedersen, Louise Ridderstrom, Luna Sobron Galmes, Yujeong Son, Linnea Strom, Emma Talley, Charlotte Thomas, Maria Torres, Lindsey Weaver and Angel Yin.

We wish the best of luck to all our former ANNIKA competitors playing this week and will be cheering everyone on from this side of the pond!
