Gusty winds made for difficult scoring conditions during the first round of the ANNIKA Invitational Latin America, but three players managed to break par. Defending champion Cristina Ochoa of Colombia, Argentina’s Agustina Zeballos and Viviana Prette of Paraguay all carded 1-under-par 72 and are tied for the lead after the opening round at Uruguay Golf Club.
The 4th ANNIKA Invitational Latin America boasts a field featuring the best female junior golfers in the region. Hosted for the first time in Uruguay, the 50-player field represents 17 countries and is one of the strongest to date. The top three finishers will receive an invitation to compete in the ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex in January, which annually hosts the top 72 junior golfers in the world.
Tied for fourth at even par are two ANNIKA Invitational veterans Vanessa Gilly of Venezuela and Valentina Rossi of Argentina. Both players have competed in the event since inception, with Rossi checking off her sixth ANNIKA Invitational after also competing in Europe and the U.S.
Making her ANNIKA Invitational debut is Mexico’s Isabel Amezcua, who currently sits in solo sixth after shooting 1-over-par.
The second round will take place Saturday, November 9, on No. 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:24 a.m.
