Duke Leads Heading into Final Round of ANNIKA Intercollegiate

Lake Elmo, MN. – Round one wrapped up this morning due to suspended play for weather yesterday. Duke sat atop the leaderboard before teeing off for round two shooting an cumulative 9-under-par, 279. Alabama junior, Kenzie Wright, and Arkansas senior, Dylan Kim, both shot 67 to put them tied for first heading into Round 2.

Round 2 began as scheduled with tee times beginning at 9 a.m. The Blue Devils finished the day 19-under-par with the help from Ana Belac and Jaravee Boonchant. Belac hit the ground running with four birdies on her front nine. After making the turn, she kept her momentum and fired another four birdies on the back recording the low individual round of the day, 65. Boonchant carded five birdies and one bogey to position herself tied for fifth.

Alabama trails Duke by two heading into the final round. After leading in round one, Alabama’s Kenzie Wright started the round carding three bogeys on her front nine. Wright turned it around on the back nine finishing strong with four straight birdies for a total of 5-under-par 67. She sits in solo second heading into the final round. USC’s Malia Nam shot a 6-under-par, 66 putting her two strokes off of the lead.

UCLA sits in third place shooting the low team round of the day, 13-under-par 275. Lilia Vu (68), who sits in solo eighth, Patty Tavatanakit (68), Beth Wu (69) and Mariel Galdiano (69) all finished under par.

Jiwon Jeon, a freshman at Alabama, went from shooting a 77 in the first round to a 7-under, 65 sharing the new course record at Royal Golf Club with Ana Belac from Duke.

Final round tee times will run from 9:00 to 10:35 AM CT on Tuesday at Royal Golf Club.
